MPC Gives Great Care for Kids
Parades, water fun, good food, a boat, exciting friends. . .sounds like a great place to be! And you can find it all and more at North Kids and the Learning Station, MPC’s two family oriented childcare facilities.
The MPC Learning Station opened early in the spring of 2011 and is growing both in numbers and facilities. The large hole in the back of the MPC campus has drawn both attention and questions! A magnificent play ground will soon be towering from the ground with various climbers, several slides, tunnels and crawl mazes. The playground is a cooperative project of MPC children’s department with Paula Spear, Children’s Ministries Pastor and Melanie Denniston, Director of MPC’s Child Care Ministries. “The acquisition of the splendid playground was a God-send,” says Melanie “and with the generous help of many the facility will benefit MPC’s ministry seven days a week.”
MPC-goer Rick Spraque has designed the layout and is coordinating volunteer work crews to construct the various aspects of the playground. Melanie describes the tedious process, “From the running of the backhoe to fitting the many, various parts together, this is a venture of many people with their generosity, time and talents to “DO Something” to help make a difference in our community.”
The two day care centers are dedicated to providing a Christ-centered environment for children ages six weeks to 5 years also providing school age and before and after school care at NorthKids. The centers serve the spiritual, physical, emotional and developmental needs of children. In a structured and safe environment, children learn not only colors, shapes, numbers, letters to prepare them for Kindergarten but experience socialization, peer interaction and important life skills such as sharing, manners and even conflict resolution. North Kids, housed at the Madison Square Campus and the Learning Station, housed at the MPC worship site, have an enrollment of about 130 children. Fall enrollment is open.
